Boost for BCS aged care

Care services for elderly residents wanting to remain in their own home in Dubbo, Griffith, on the Mid North Coast and in the ACT have received a boost following a new funding announcement from the Federal Government.

As a leading not-for-profit Christian aged care provider BCS has received funding in the latest Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR) to offer 50 more packages and significantly extending its care to elderly residents across NSW and the ACT.

Of the new care packages in the ACT, 20 are Community Aged Care Packages (CACPs), which provide the equivalent of low care residential services to people in their own homes.

Ten packages are Extended Aged Care at Home (EACH) and another two packages for EACH Dementia – specialised dementia care.

EACH packages provide the equivalent of resident high care services delivered to in the home.

The BCS Care Centres in Dubbo and the Murrumbidgee both received funding for two EACH packages, while across the Mid North Coast BCS received seven EACH packages and five EACH Dementia packages.

BCS Chief Executive Officer Dr June Heinrich said BCS was delighted to be further expanding in-home aged care services across NSW and the ACT.

“These packages allow older people to stay in their own homes for longer periods of time and provide a greater sense of security, safety and well-being, plus a greater peace of mind for loves ones and carers,” Dr Heinrich said.

“We were one of the first organisations in Australia to develop in-home aged care services and it is exciting to now see how such services are growing as more and more people recognise that with the right type of support they can remain in their own homes.”

“We have a great team of dedicated and passionate staff providing care to the elderly.”

Dr Heinrich said BCS looked forward to further extending its care services in the ACT region in the future, both in the community and with plans for new residential aged care developments in Griffith and Red Hill.
