With a new year upon us, BCS has moved into a time of celebration to mark our 65th anniversary of care to the community.
The anniversary year, with its theme of “A Great Care Story – 65 Years in the Making” will be launched on February 15 with a Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration at the BCS Shalom Centre Chapel.
The key celebration focus will be a “Hands of Care Relay”, which will be launched on April 21 at the BCS Yallambi Centre, the organisation’s first aged care centre.
The relay will see a “Hands of Care” baton taken across NSW and the ACT with special celebration events held at each location the baton is taken to.
BCS Chief Executive Officer Dr June Heinrich said the anniversary year was a time to look back and give thanks to God for his faithfulness and leading over 65 years.
“It’s also a time for us to be inspired by the great vision and faith of those who formed the organisation,” Dr Heinrich said.
“They were committed to the vision of expressing the love of Christ in practical ways and 65 years on this is still the BCS heartbeat.”
“The relay will allow us to move around and celebrate the BCS story, but also look ahead and allow people to see the exciting vision BCS has for the future as we continue to pursue excellence in Christian care.”
The “Hands of Care” celebration events will include an official ceremony, involving relevant parliamentary and local government representatives, community leaders and BCS senior management. These events will be followed by staff thank you celebrations, involving morning teas, lunches or afternoon teas at respective venues.
The relay event will also allow BCS to showcase its care services to the local community.
