From the suburbs to the Hill
The expansion of BCS services, numerically and geographically, will be further highlighted during our 65th Anniversary year as the organisation paves the way for a new community aged care service in Broken Hill.
BCS has been awarded the opportunity of providing Transitional Aged Care Packages [TACP] by Greater Western Area Health to older people living in Broken Hill and surrounding local government areas.
The Transitional Aged Care Package (TACP) is a 12-week wellness-focused program aimed at providing support to older people following a hospital admission.
Under the package clients are provided with support to complete their recovery and rehabilitation, with services including personal care, therapeutic social activities, nursing support, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, along with practical assistance in areas such as housekeeping, laundry and meals.
BCS operates similar services in the ACT and Parkes and has hopes that this new initiative in Broken Hill may lead to the development of other relevant aged care services in the Greater West of NSW. The new service will be overseen by the Dubbo-based BCS Care Centre – Mid State.
