TAKE 2 - Respectful Relationships

TAKE 2 is a program about respectful relationships. It aims to raise awareness about what’s ok and not ok in relationships. It teaches young people to identify components of a healthy and an unhealthy relationship, while encouraging students to think about what they would like in a relationship. The program then teaches some tools we need for a healthy, respectful relationship, such as effective communication.

TAKE 2 is derived from the acclaimed ACT 2 program and now includes the use of a professionally produced HD film in place of live acting. The aims and messages of TAKE 2, like ACT 2 before it, are the same and the program continues to be interactive, engaging and drama based to encourage fun and effective learning.

TAKE 2 is funded by the Federal Government, and is a part of the government’s Initiative to Reduce Violence against Women. The program is being run in high schools, targeting year nine students.

TAKE 2 has received funding to introduce the program in seven local government areas throughout 2011 including; Bankstown, Canterbury, Penrith, Campbelltown, Blacktown Wollongong and Wyong.

This site contains information for students, teachers and parents about the program, including resources for both students and teachers.

An independent evaluation of the program reported that 82% of students found the program to be very good or excellent, while a survey taken by the students at least two months after the program reported that 80% had a change in behaviour towards safer relationships.

To have obtained this level of engagement and seriousness with Year 9 speaks volumes for the program.
