FAQs

Q. Mum deserves the best care possible. How do I know if she is eligible to receive care from BCS?

A. BCS is passionately committed to meeting the care needs of all our clients, whether this is caring for your mum in her own home or making a home for her in one of our aged care homes. We’re here to help you make this decision.

To enter into a BCS aged care home your mum must be assessed by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). The ACAT in your area can talk to you and provide you with information, advice and help. The ACAT can assess whether your mum is eligible for Australian Government subsidised care in a BCS home or in her own home. Our BCS aged care homes can provide low-level, high-level and respite care. BCS also has a variety of programs to help your mum continue living at home, such as Community Aged Care Packages and the Extended Aged Care at Home program.

Q. How do I arrange for an ACAT assessment?

A. Referrals for an ACAT assessment can be made by anyone. ACATs cover all of Australia and are based in hospitals or in the local community. Information about the ACAT closest to you is available from the Commonwealth Carelink Centres on 1800 052 222. You may wish to see your own doctor first and they will also be able to put you in contact with the local ACAT.

Q. Can I choose what aged care home dad goes into or does the ACAT decide this for me?

A. The ACAT can give you a list of aged care homes that you might like to consider, but finding the best home for your dad is the choice of your family. BCS currently operates 20 residential aged care homes and 25 community in-home care centres. Our staff will help you find the home and care that best suits your dads and families needs.

Q. I am not a Baptist, am I still eligible to receive care from BCS?

A. At BCS we are committed to meeting the care needs of all people and we welcome those who come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and faiths; you do not need to be a Baptist to receive care from BCS.

At BCS we are proud of our Christian heritage and we exist to express Christ’s love as we serve those people in the community who are in need. As a Christian care provider, BCS is committed to not only meeting our resident’s physical needs, but also their emotional and spiritual needs.  And all our aged care services have provisions for chaplaincy and regular Sunday service.
