Corporate Career Story
When did you begin working at BCS?
I commenced employment with BCS in June 2004. This was the first time I had been involved in aged care so it was quite a learning curve as my previous payroll experience had been with the building and construction industry. It was a nice change, I must say!
Briefly describe your present role at BCS?
I am the Payroll Manager and responsible for ensuring all BCS employees are paid correctly, on time and in accordance with all payroll associated legislative requirements. I oversee a team of ten staff.
What training have you completed with BCS and how has this helped in your role?
I was very fortunate to be offered the opportunity to take part in the Frontline Management Program run by the BCS Learning Unit.
This was a wonderful opportunity for me to meet and study with many other BCS employees from various areas across the organisation. It was a real challenge at times to complete assignments and tasks after a long day at the office, but very worthwhile and I was incredibly happy to graduate with a Diploma in Frontline Management.
What do you most enjoy about your work at BCS?
Working with such a great team of people for starters, both here at BCS Support Services in Epping, and across the organisation.
I am privileged to be part of a very dedicated team of Payroll Officers. Payroll is a specialised area and each team member brings a high standard of expertise in the many and varied areas of payroll processing. We are dealing with a very sensitive component of employment and have to deal with some very challenging situations at times. The Payroll Team I oversee is a very committed team who support and assist each other while always working to deliver the best positive outcome possible.
I take pride in doing the best I can to provide support to all of our dedicated staff and to ensure they receive their payments correctly and on time each pay period. Each day at BCS presents different challenges, but it's great to push myself and take something away from every experience.
What would you say to someone considering a corporate career with BCS?
I am proud to be working for an organisation that delivers such life changing care and compassion to the wider community. I have the greatest respect for all of our dedicated care workers and the wonderful care they provide across the many and varied areas of services BCS offers.
