Night Vision is an after-dark street-based service, which provides practical care and support to vulnerable people in the inner city of Newcastle, including the homeless, at-risk youth and other socially isolated people.

The service operates a street van, providing free food, tea and coffee, cold drinks, clothing, blankets, crisis care, housing support, referral and advocacy services. The service also operates a Saturday night BBQ in the CBD, which engages with people on the street and others in need, including those affected by alcohol.

The Community Outreach Team is focused on reducing homelessness in Newcastle. The Outreach Team serves as part of the innovative Reaching Home service, which has been established in Newcastle under the NSW Homelessness Action Plan. Partners in the Reaching Home service are Housing NSW, Legal Aid NSW, Hunter New England Health and BCS.

The Outreach Team has staff on the streets of Newcastle day and night seven days a week, making contact and developing relationships with some of the city’s most vulnerable people, with the aim of enabling them to access relevant health, legal and other support services, with the goal of securing them long-term sustainable housing.
